GENESIS is a 116-bed private clinic, located within city limits on a 3.2 hectare plot of land, next to the Eastern ring road of Thessaloniki in the Municipality of Pylaia.
The terrain of this plot is on a steep gradient, ensuring that there is a particularly good view over the city of Thessaloniki and across the Thermaic Gulf.
Thus the architectural composition is noteworthy for two parallel lengthwise wings with a north-south orientation. Between the wings, at the centre of the composition lies a central hub for vertical and horizontal circulation. Along two sides of the central hub, a two-storey cafeteria area was created, facing north and a three-storey main entrance facing south. Under the volume of the building, to the southeast, is an outdoor area protected from the northerly winds, where the main entrance to the clinic is located.
The dominant element in the main entrance area is a three-storey curved wall, a combination of curtain wall and natural rock, which unifies the two wings of the building.
The upper levels of the western wing, which have the better view, contain the Patient Wards.
The First Basement, which is partly underground, due to the steep gradient, is where the operating rooms and delivery rooms are located.
