The «Leto» Maternity Hospital is a four-storey building with two basements and a penthouse. It has a capacity of 160 beds and is situated at Mousson street near Athens Nursing home.
The design complies with international standards of the time, in relation to the requirement for utility and service areas.
Nursing wards account for 22% of the total constructed area, which gives a proportion of 45m² per bed.
The materials used for the interior decoration seek to create a pleasant, relaxing environment for the users and their relatives. Marble and aluminum have been used for cladding and decorative surfaces, in combination with metal false ceilings and synthetic floors.
The exterior of the building is a combination of a grid made of bare reinforced concrete, aluminum and steel.
The contribution of the sculptor Dimitris Armakolas was of great importance for the final look of the building, as his relief and engraves decorate its side elevations.
